He has undergone extensive training at some of the most prestigious schools in the country. At Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center, Dr. Shah works together with Dr. Milan Shah and Dr. Brett Lehocky to incorporate the latest in cosmetic surgery technology into our practice so patients can benefit from the latest techniques and treatments available. Education and Training
Dr. Darshan Shah graduated with a Bachelors of Science in biology from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he also began his medical education in their prestigious BS-MD combined program. The program, reserved for the highest-achieving high school students from across the country, is an intensive medical and surgical skills education program which lasts for six years. Dr. Shah graduated from the program at the top of his class.
Dr. Shah went on to train at the Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield as part of a surgical training program at the University of California, San Diego. There, he performed general surgery, heart surgery, and trauma surgery and received his certification. During his training, he specialized in breast cancer and breast cancer surgery. His exceptional surgical abilities earned him the prestigious Helfert award, which is given to the most accomplished surgical chief resident.
Dr. Shah also received rigorous training at the Mayo Clinic, consistently ranked as one of the top three hospitals in the United States by the US News & World Report. His achievements at the Mayo Clinic helped him to refine his skills in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Shah has authored many articles that have been published in various academic surgical journals and has educated medical students and residents about the latest advances in breast reconstruction and plastic surgery. He also started his own surgical education website. Throughout his career and training, he has performed more than 8,000 surgical procedures, and his exceptional surgical skill has earned him the title "Best in Bakersfield" three years in a row.
Community Involvement
Dr. Shah volunteers his time and services to those who are less fortunate and is the founder of The Promise, a charitable organization that repairs and treats cleft lips, palates, and burn injuries in countries such as India, Africa, and South America. He also supports local charities and organizations such as the American Heart Association, the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter, and many others.
