Patients should begin preparing for liposuction surgery at least two weeks before their scheduled procedure by refraining from taking any medications containing aspirin or other blood thinners. The night before liposuction surgery, patients should get plenty of rest and arrange for a friend to accompany them and drive them home after the procedure. Patients should also refrain from eating at least six hours before the surgery to prevent an upset stomach while under anesthesia. Tumescent and Ultrasonic Liposuction Procedure

We provide patients from the Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, and surrounding areas with cutting-edge tumescent and ultrasonic liposuction techniques for the safest and most natural-looking results.

During the liposuction procedure, the surgeon marks the areas to be treated. Next, the surgeon creates several tiny incisions and injects a tumescent solution composed of lidocaine and epinephrine into the targeted areas. This solution makes the unwanted fat firm up so it is easier to work with, as well as limits the amount of blood lost during liposuction. This process ultimately reduces the amount of swelling, bruising, and skin irregularities patients experience after surgery.

Next, the surgeon uses ultrasonic waves to convert the solid fat into a liquid, making removal much easier. The fat is then suctioned out using a thin vacuum tube called a cannula. Up to ten pounds of fat can be removed using this liposuction technique. When the operation is complete, the patient is fitted with a compression garment to help with recovery. The incisions are left open for better drainage and overall healing. The entire liposuction operation is performed under general anesthesia.

Results from Tumescent and Ultrasonic Liposuction

Liposuction surgery results in a slimmer, more contoured body appearance. Although patients experience some downtime, it is kept to a minimum because of the advanced techniques utilized at our practice. Most patients feel very little discomfort after surgery and can return to work in a few days. Patients are prescribed medication to eliminate any discomfort. Patients can expect bruising during the first week and swelling for up to six months after liposuction surgery, with full results after this time. Because our surgeons use the latest liposuction techniques, any scars left from the procedure will be minimal and hidden from view, and they should fade in a few weeks. Patients are advised to schedule follow-up visits with their surgeon to ensure a successful healing process.
