- Facial Fillers such as Restylane®, Restylane® Lyft, Juvederm®, and other fillers are usually 30-minute, in office injectable procedures that can take years off in terms of facial aging by restoring fullness that was once present.

What Is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a clear biodegradable gel made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. Hyaluronic acid fills in the spaces between collagen and elastin fibers to cushion soft tissue. Over time, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases due to the natural aging process, contributing to the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. Restylane® injections are used to help replace the hyaluronic acid, resulting in a more youthful facial appearance.

Restylane® Treatment Process
In performing the treatment, the doctor or nurse uses a thin needle to inject Restylane® into skin tissue. The hyaluronic acid in the gel draws in water, causing the tissue near the fine lines and wrinkles to swell and attain a smoother appearance. Because the needle is very fine, patients experience little to no pain during the treatment. The entire Restylane® procedure takes less than an hour, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. Because of this, Restylane® treatment is known as a "lunchtime" procedure. Restylane® injections can be combined with BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment for optimal aesthetic results.

Bellafill® Injections
Our practice is proud to offer Bellafill® injections, the first and only FDA-approved permanent wrinkle filler on the market. Also known as Artecoll®, the dermal filler has been used throughout Europe and Canada to reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Unlike Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel, Bellafill® is made of polymethylmethacrylate beads suspended in bovine collagen. The beads stimulate the production of collagen in the body, and as the solution degrades, it is replaced by the body's natural collagen. Because of this, Bellafill® provides longer lasting results than other fillers.

What are the different Facial Fillers Offered at Beautologie and where are they used?

Many times a combination of different fillers are used together to give patients the very best results. Our most popular filler Restylane ™ is a versatile, safe, and effective filler to plump lips, smooth lines around the mouths and soften the Naso-Labial folds and Marionette Lines. Its close cousin Restylane® Lyft is added to give patients more optimum correction when the lines are deeper or more volumizing is needed. Juvederm XC ™ and Juvederm® Ultra Plus (XC) are very similar Hyaluronic acid fillers also offered at Beautologie, which give similar results. When more lifting or cheekbone definition is required, a thicker more durable filler is needed, Radiesse® or Juvederm Voluma™ are often the best solution. Radiesse® is made from calcium Hydroxyapatite microsphere. Calcium, like the calcium in our bones. Collagen/ Permanent Wrinkle Fillers
Scientists made the first wrinkle fillers from a purified form of collagen extracted mostly from cows. Although it worked well and offered a natural-looking fill, the results didn't last long. Most collagen injections began to break down as early as 1 month after treatment. Because these wrinkle fillers were made from an animal source, they also had a higher rate of allergic reaction and required allergy testing beforehand.
New ways of processing the collagen have helped lower the risks. Plus, new forms of synthetic collagens are making these injections safer and more useful to a wider range of people. Although the results don't last as long as other wrinkle fillers, many believe the results are more natural looking. Little Crystals called polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are mixed with the Collagen. The collagen in Bellafill® provides immediate volume and lift while the PMMA microspheres remain in place and create a matrix that supports collagen production in your skin for lasting improvement. RESULTS ARE SEEN UP TO 5 YEARS AFTER TREATMENT.

What are the Side effects associated with filler treatment and will I look natural?
The most common side effects of filler treatments include bruising and swelling at injection site, which is temporary. It is advisable patient not be on blood thinning medications when undergoing treatment. Consult medical staff to go over medical history and to go over less likely complications or rare side effects such as allergy and infection.
