Mommy Makeover
A mommy makeover is a cosmetic surgery that involves a combination of procedures such as breast augmentation or lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction. The goal is to restore a woman's body after childbirth or weight loss. This procedure can be customized to fit the unique needs and goals of each patient.
Quick Info
- A “Mommy Makeover” addresses the typical concerns of a woman who has completed having children. It treats deflation and loss of volume of the breast, stretch marks and excess skin on the abdomen, and excess fat accumulation in the hips.
- A "Mommy Makeover" includes breast enhancement, a tummy tuck and some liposuction of the sides for additional contouring. We can also do a breast lift and other areas of liposuction at the same time if needed, at an additional cost.
- The surgery takes about 3 hours, and the recovery is about two weeks. You should not lift or go to the gym for 4-6 weeks after surgery.
- Before you have the surgery, you will be measured for breast implants and we will help you choose the best implant for you.

What is a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures to address the problems usually created by pregnancy. This includes some form of breast surgery, a tummy tuck and liposuction.
Why do Mothers get Mommy Makeover?
Pregnancy can cause major changes in a woman's body, some which are irreversible by diet and exercise. There are three types of changes that occur after pregnancy:
The breasts, after being engorged with milk end up actually losing breast tissue during a process called involution. This occurs once breast-feeding stops, and hormones from the brain cause the breast milk to disappear. This same process also causes loss of breast tissue leading to smaller and sagging breasts. The lost volume can be replaced with a breast implant, and if you do have a certain degree of sagging, you will require a breast lift.
The abdomen can get stretch marks, weakened abdominal muscles, and excess skin. Stretch marks are literally tears in the dermis of the skin that are irreversible. Contrary to what you may hear on a late night infomercial, there is no magic cream that has been proven to work on stretch marks. Many women may also have a c-section scar that is unsightly. A tummy tuck can correct each of these issues.
Fat deposits can occur and be very resistant to weight loss and exercise. This is because a woman's body is genetically programmed to hold on to fat stores for feeding an infant. The stores are in the waist and outer thighs for most women. Even after losing all of their baby weight plus more, many women still have pockets of fat in these areas. Liposuction is the perfect treatment for these fat deposits, and at Beautologie we provide some of best liposuction and mommy makeover results in Bakersfield, Fresno and Stockton.
What procedures are usually performed in a Mommy Makeover?
The mommy makeover is customized to your needs but usually includes some form of breast reconstruction (either with breast implants and/or a breast lift), a tummy tuck (either a mini or full), and liposuction. These procedures are easily and safely performed at the same time in 3-4 hours. The surgery is an outpatient procedure, which means you get to recover at home after the surgery.
What is recovery like after having surgery?
Recovery from a mommy makeover is about 2 weeks of staying home and taking it easy. Although you will likely be in bed for only a few days, it is imperative that you give your body adequate time to rest and heal. After 2 weeks, you can go back to a desk job, but any strenuous activity must be avoided for 4-6 weeks. Most people look great after 6 weeks, but the results will continue to improve for up to a year or longer as the swelling subsides.
How soon after having a baby can I have the surgery?
You want to make sure your skin has totally recovered from having the baby, and you have lost most of the baby weight gained during your pregnancy. This usually takes 6 months or longer. If you were overweight before your pregnancy, you want to try to lose weight to get to a body mass index below 30 before considering the mommy makeover procedure. Of course, you want to make sure you have a personal consultation with a qualified Plastic Surgeon to make sure you are an ideal candidate for this surgery.
Should I have a Mommy Makeover if I still plan on having more children?
If you plan on having more children, it is not the right time to do the tummy tuck portion of this surgery. Although the breast surgery and liposuction are commonly performed on women even before having any children, the tummy tuck should be a "one shot" deal that is done after you are sure you are done with child bearing.
Is it safe to have more than one procedure at a time?
We have performed thousands of Mommy Makeover procedures without incident at our AAAHC Accredited Surgery Center. The key to safety is having it done under monitored general anesthesia (do not attempt any of these procedures under local anesthesia), having a real plastic surgeon perform the surgery, being healthy at the time of the procedure, and ensuring adequate true rest time afterwards. Each of these factors is thoroughly considered when you receive a Mommy Makeover at Beautologie.
Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Aesthetics has the expertise and the professionals to safely guide you though the process of this incredible, life changing procedure when you are ready. We constantly strive to perform the best mommy makeover results in Bakersfield, Fresno and Stockton.
