Meet Jon Wilensky, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. Jon Wilensky is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in cosmetic surgery of the breasts and body. Dr. Wilensky has over 17 years of experience in plastic surgery and is dedicated to providing exceptional care.

A native of New York City, Dr. Wilensky attended The Stuyvesant High School, the crown jewel of the New York City public school system. This public math/science/technology High School in Manhattan, to which entrance is gained only by competitive examination, has a 3% admission rate. For Dr. Wilensky, Stuyvesant was a 2-hour commute, each way, via mass transit (bus, ferry, subways) from his childhood home on Staten Island to Manhattan.

Dr. Wilensky completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Michigan as part of the 7-Year Integrated BS-MD program. Thereafter, Dr. Wilensky matched into and completed the 6-Year Integrated Plastic Surgery residency program at the University of Michigan Health System.

In addition to his skills in plastic surgery, Dr. Wilensky is entrenched in the emerging world of implantable biotechnology and cellular therapeutics. He has been the Lead Surgeon on three clinical trials involving implantable sensors and implantable cell therapy, and has consulted for numerous other early- and mid-stage companies with such technologies. Most recently, he has served as the Head of Surgery for ViaCyte, Inc. which was recently acquired by VERTEX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. with the goal of accelerating its potentially curative programs in Type 1 Diabetes.
